SHORT LEADERSHIP BIO
Venerable Thich Huyen Chau is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sakya Buddha University (SBU) and the founder of Bodhi Buddharealm Society (BBS), a nonprofit religious organization based in California.
He entered monastic life at the age of fourteen and has devoted more than three decades to Buddhist education, scholarship, and community service. His academic training includes advanced studies in Buddhist philosophy, Abhidhamma, and cultural studies in Vietnam.
Since arriving in the United States in 2013, Venerable Thich Huyen Chau has focused on building educational institutions that integrate Buddhist wisdom with contemporary academic practice. In 2014 he established Bodhi Buddharealm Society in Orange County, California. In 2022 the organization established Sakya Buddha University as its higher education academic unit.
As CEO, he provides institutional leadership, strategic direction, and mission-centered guidance for the University’s academic and community initiatives.
